Practical questions to help electrical contractors choose and brief estimating support. Confirm project suitability, scope and capacity before commissioning.
Local details that change the estimating conversation.
Calgary’s electrical-permit guidance distinguishes base-building work from tenant spaces and identifies electrical-plan review information. Its alterations guidance also separates building approval from trade permits. For a tenant-improvement estimate, identify which permit package, systems and drawing issue your price covers. | Calgary briefing item | What to provide or clarify |
|---|---|
| Base building versus tenant | Separate the landlord package, tenant work and shared systems. Identify fire alarm, emergency lighting and HVAC electrical interfaces that need review. |
| Permit and plan review basis | List the current electrical drawings and specifications. Ask the project team which permit submissions, design information and review comments apply; an estimating engagement does not obtain approvals. |
| Service or temporary-power work | Identify utility and contractor boundaries, temporary-power scope and any service changes. Confirm applicable utility requirements for the actual address before pricing. |
| Occupied-space work | Provide access, shutdown and work-hour constraints so the agreed labour assumptions reflect the planned execution. |
This is a briefing checklist, not a permit determination or engineering advice. Confirm current requirements with the City and project professionals. VOLT X serves contractors across the United States and Canada; acceptance and capacity are confirmed for each project.

Ask about monthly support
VOLT X uses Xkey AiE software to prepare electrical estimates. For certain contracts, a client may request a separate Xkey AiE account for access to its estimating work and a later transfer. Where the contract includes this arrangement, VOLT X holds the account and pays the monthly subscription as part of the services agreement until transfer is requested. Client access, the transfer process, subscription responsibility and project-record handling are defined in the contract and applicable Xkey AiE terms.
